Roslyn M. Simpson, Esq.

As Chair of the Commission on Scholarship and Education at the historic First AME Church in South Los Angeles, she acquired funding, granted scholarships, initiated SAT/ACT preparation sessions and distributed packages to students that launched and stewarded the post-secondary education of young adults within and beyond the walls of the church.

Her talents were most notably recognized through her work at Susan MIller Dorsey High School, an inner-city landmark high school in Los Angeles, where she ‘packaged’ underserved student-athletes from under-represented groups with scholarships that provided tuition, room, board and books for them over a five-year period. The engagement programs she implemented have launched the careers of some of the most recognizable names in education, business and sports.
A collegiate All-American in Track and Field, Ms. Simpson was recently appointed by USATF President Vin Lananna to serve on the National Athletics Boards of Review (NABR) for USATF, the National Governing Body for the United States National Teams for Track and Field, Cross Country, Road Running, Race Walking and Para-Olympians. The NABR hears all proceedings related to disciplinary complaints filed or prosecuted on behalf of USATF, including, but not limited to, issues involving doping, Sports Act violations, rights of participation and sexual misconduct allegations. Ms. Simpson is also active in USATF locally at the Youth level. She is a member of the Executive Board of USATF’s Southern California Association and currently holds the position of Chair for Youth Track and Field for the Southern California Association of USATF.

Currently, Ms. Simpson is a Mayoral Appointee for the City of Los Angeles and serves as Commissioner for the City of Los Angeles’ Small Business Commission; acting as a liaison between the City of Los Angeles and the small business community in the City’s effort to promote, grow and retain small businesses within the City of Los Angeles. She serves as Special Counsel to the CEO of Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n Waffles, where has spent nearly 30 years with the organization focused on its growth and expansion efforts. In addition, she serves the greater Los Angeles community as an Executive Board member for the South Los Angeles Community Development and Empowerment Corporation and sits on the Trustee Board for First AME Church of Los Angeles.
